LIST PICK
VOGUES CAST YOUR EYES
Having shared a steady stream of singles already this year, our hopes of a debut album from London-based musician Vogues have finally come to fruition. Following 'Blood Moon', 'Tried' and 'Trophic Cascades', 2 new pieces have landed alongside the announcement of their first LP. 'Cast Your Eyes' and the title track 'Tender Mercies' mark a significant milestone for the eclectic artist, who's sonic palette is both broad and extremely vibrant. Backed up by a tasteful music video, 'Cast Your Eyes' is a sultry track of deep contrast, pairing romantic bossa nova-inspired guitar work with harsh synth bass pulled straight from a drill or acid house track. As ever, their lyricism is thoughtful and provocative, inviting listeners to take it all in as they croon 'cast your eyes over me, do you like what you see?' Vogues explains via Instagram, "There will be two new songs at the end of October and again in November, then the album will be complete. We decided to release the songs this way as it’s very much an album of two halves; late night and early morning, memories and fantasies, self doubt and self discovery, upbeat songs with sad lyrics then downbeat songs with sad lyrics. I am immensely proud of it and forever grateful to Ben Woods for being my musical partner in crime. Hope you enjoy the new songs, and can now listen to the previous ones in a new light." Tender Mercies will arrive on the 28th of November. -Holly Mullineaux
